PETALING JAYA: It is not necessary for future elected representatives to have at least a credit in Bahasa Melayu (BM) in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination - this is the view of both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat MPs.
Umno backbencher and Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (pic) said he had suggested before that an eligible candidate must be able to speak BM to represent the rakyat in the Dewan Rakyat debates and communicate effectively with voters.
