Sarawak forests should be replanted with indigenous trees, says PKR rep

KUCHING: Sarawak's forests should be replanted with indigenous trees instead of fast-growing exotic species, which would cause more damage, the State Legislative Assembly heard.

Baru Bian (PKR-Ba'Kelalan) said on Thursday that exotic tree species like oil palm and acacia, which were not native to Sarawak, caused soil damage and threatened local wildlife and the ecosystem.
