Barisan and PAS supporters arrived at the nomination centre early carrying with them party flags. There was also a strong police presence to keep check on any disturbances.

Hasan was accompanied by several Barisan leaders including deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Hassan, Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam.
