GEORGE TOWN: The body of a Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) student, who died in a bus crash in Aceh, Indonesia, is expected to arrive at the Penang International Airport at 8pm, Thursday.

USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Omar Osman said the remains of Muhamad Izzamir Nabihan Abdul Majid, 23, are expected to be flown from Medan to Jakarta, and will transit at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport before reaching Penang.

"USM is working with local authorities to send the victim’s remains back to Penang as soon as possible," he told a press conference on Thursday.

He said the body of Muhamad Izzamir Nabihan, a final year mineral resources engineering student, is expected to be buried on Friday in Kepala Batas.

Prof Omar said a student and a lecturer were among those who were injured, adding that they were still being treated in a hospital in Indonesia.

The group of 25 people, comprising 19 students, five lecturers and a technical staff, arrived in Indonesia on Sunday for an academic trip.
