KUALA LUMPUR: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) wants a revision of the mandatory imposition of online service of foreign worker temporary permit (PLKS).
It wants a mixed system, involving both the online and manual systems to ensure fairness.
ACCCIM secretary-general Datuk Low Kian Chuan said a mixed system was a fairer and better solution whereby, the online and manual systems could co-exist.
He said the association was not against the government implementation but supported it as PLKS encouraged employers to use the online system.
PLKS, an online renewal system for foreign workers, was made mandatory beginning Jan 5, with a service fee of RM38 per renewal.
Previously, the renewal process was done through public counter service at the immigration department, but was now solely through MyEG.
