SIBU: A odd-job worker was jailed 18 years for raping his daughter who has learning difficulties and she gave birth to a child.
Sessions Court judge Caroline Vee Majail ordered Sioe Wu Seng to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on March 21 this year.
Sioe was charged under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code which provides for a jail sentence of up to 20 years, and whipping.
According to the facts of the case, the police on Jan 10 received a report from Sibu Hospital that a 30-year old unmarried woman was admitted to the maternity ward as she was already nine months pregnant.
Two days later, the woman gave birth to a 2.02kg boy.
Blood samples of the accused and the woman and baby were sent to the Chemistry department and the DNA of the child and accused matched.
Investigations revealed that the accused had raped the woman between April and May, 2013 at their house in Jalan Foochow.
The court had then ordered the accused be sent to Sentosa Hospital in Kuching for mental observation which later showed that he was fit to stand trial.
