MALACCA: The state government has voiced its backing for the Peranakan Chinese community in its quest to be given bumiputra status.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the Peranakan Chinese had played their part during the Malacca Sultanate era and the state government would support Peranakan Chinese Association of Malaysia (PCAM) in its effort to obtain bumiputra status.
