HE had only met her a few hours at a bar with some friends. Hours later, pictures of him were circulated in Kuantan, labelling him as a seducer of other people’s wives.

China Press reported that the man, identified only as Liew, said he went for drinks with friends and a “new” lady friend at a bar in Jalan Haji Ahmad Sunday night. The woman followed him to another bar in Jalan Tun Ismail.

“After that, I escorted the 25-year-old woman to the car park and her husband was waiting for us there,” he said.

”He scolded me and accused me of seducing his wife but I took it in stride as I was not out on a date with his wife but in a group,” said the 31-year-old sales manager.

Liew said a few hours later, at 3am on Monday, he got a call from a friend informing him that banners with pictures of him were put up in Jalan Semambu and Jalan Air Putih.

”I confronted the woman’s husband and questioned him about the banners,” he said. “He claimed he knew nothing about them. I then lodged a police report.”

Kuantan Deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Aziz Ahmad confirmed the case and said police would investigate.

> China Press also reported that a woman was cheated of RM7,000 in cash and valuables by three women from China who had promised to “drive away” evil spirits.

Odd-job worker Yeoh Siew Eng, 61, met the trio in their 30s and 50s at the Brinchang market in Cameron Highlands Friday. They told her that she was possessed by evil spirits.

“They told me that they must conduct an exorcism within 30 minutes or my son would meet with a serious accident.

“I was so worried that I handed them RM1,500 and my valuables, which were then placed in a plastic bag provided by them.

“I then went to a nearby petrol kiosk where the ‘exorcism’ was conducted.

”After the ‘exorcism’, they handed the plastic bag back to me and instructed me to only open the bag after three days.

“I opened the bag when I got home but my money and valuables had been replaced with two bottles of water,” she said.

> A teacher from Taoyuan, Taiwan, collected more than 14,000 pairs of old shoes in four days after launching the “Old Shoes Save Lives” campaign.

Guang Ming Daily reported that Yang Yu-jen got to know that the people living in a remote mountainous area in Kenya, Africa, were suffering from life threatening infections caused by the chigoe flea, because they could not afford to buy shoes.

Yang said he started the campaign via social media in April and had only expected to collect several hundred pairs of shoes. “I received shoes and old clothes from artistes, schools and netizens from other countries.”
