PETALING JAYA: There is no truth to social media chatter that Universiti Malaya (UM) will be locked down today, as reported by a news portal, a source at the university said.

According to the source, no letter or official communication was released by the university informing students of a lockdown that is widely believed to be aimed at preventing Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from addressing a student event in campus at 9am today. It is billed as “40 Years: From UM to Prison”.
