KUALA LUMPUR: When Malaysia takes over the chairmanship of Asean from Myanmar next year, the bloc’s move towards a “people-centred Asean” is expected to become a reality, said Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Ong Keng Yong.
He said Malaysia’s capability and experience as well as aspiration for good governance, higher standards of living, sustainable development, women’s empowerment and greater opportunity for the people would serve as a boost for the move to establish the Asean Community by end-December 2015.
