PETALING JAYA: A Sabah Umno division leader was briefly detained for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for investigations into an alleged RM300mil Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT).
MACC have yet to issue a statement on the matter, although commission sources confirmed when contacted that investigations were still ongoing, with the details to be revealed in a later statement.
On Tuesday, a Sabah newspaper reported that the division leader was detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport last Thursday.
He is a former deputy chairman of a state agency and heads one of 25 Umno divisions in Sabah.
The politician, however, denied that he was detained by MACC, saying that he was not in KLIA on Thursday.
In a Facebook posting, Umno’s Sepanggar MP Datuk Jumat Idris questioned the decision to detain the division leader and said it could be motivated by “political revenge”.
