Justice Aziah Ali allowed Uthayakumar's application to lighten the punishment, ruling that it was appropriate to have the sentence varied from 30 months to 24 months.
The three person panel, which also included Justices Mohamad Ariff Md Yusoff and Ahmadi Asnawi, however unanimously upheld the lower courts' finding of guilt though it reduced the sentence.
