TUMPAT: Police will step up surveillance at all border checkpoints here to ensure that no undesirable persons or contraband comes across the border during the Pengkalan Kubor by-election next week.
Kelantan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said round-the-clock surveillance would be carried out at Sungai Golok by the marine police while about 500 policemen would be placed on stand-by during the by-election.
