GEORGE TOWN: More than 20,000 people braved the morning breeze to be part of the 37th edition of the Penang Starwalk.
Happiness and joy were written all over their faces as they walked past the main stage where the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas flagged off the event near Penang Times Square at 7am on Sunday.
Many of them took selfies as they cruised past heritage buildings along the route including the recently refurbished The Star Pitt St. in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.
Fabulous lucky draw prizes, including the grand prize of a 3D/2N stay at Pangkor Laut Resort worth RM5,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 worth RM1,299 sponsored by Yes, await those who finish the walk within two hours.
The event also featured a charity segment in which some 200 participants from corporate companies and charities will take part in the - ‘Walk With Us’ - 1km walk.
Joining them were members of Ivorycares, the charitable arm of Ivory Properties Group Bhd, which sponsored goodie bags and breakfast for the charity walk participants.
A total of 12 corporate sponsors have pledged RM10,000 to a charity each under the segment.
The Penang Starwalk 2014 is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the Penang Amateur Athletic Association.
