Public nuisance: Low (right) and How leaving the magistrate's court in Ipoh. They were fined RM400 each.
IPOH: The two models involved with the sexy pre-wedding photoshoot here have been fined RM400 each, in default one month’s jail.
Photographs of Low Kah Wai, 27, – clad in black pants and shoes without any shirt on but a bow-tie – and How Jo Yee, 21, who wore only white undergarments, a wedding veil and heels, went viral after social media users posted them on the Internet.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof made the judgment yesterday after the freelance models pleaded guilty to causing nuisance in public at a traffic light in front of the CIMB bank branch in Jalan Sultan Yussuf here on Monday.
Their counsel Andrew Soong, when met after the proceedings, said his clients and their families were stressed out since the photographs went viral online.
He said they were mulling action against those who published the photographs online.
Earlier, DPP Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong, in pushing for the maximum penalty of RM400, said the duo’s action caught public attention with some of those photographs captured and circulated through social media.
“The country is made up of a multi-cultural society and their action is unacceptable,” he added.
In mitigation, Soong said both models would apologise to the people who were offended by their action.
Both, who were charged under Section 268 of the Penal Code, paid the fine.
