Pawnbrokers seek GST exemption


Minister in the Prime Minister department Datuk Wee Ka Siong during the meeting with Pawnbrokers Association Malaysia at Menara Usahawan in Putrajaya.

PUTRAJAYA: Pawnbrokers are appealing to the Government for the sale of pledged items in a pawn deal to be exempted from the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

This was conveyed to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, who said an exemption in this case might ensure a fairer deal for customers and keep the pawnbrokers’ industry competitive.
