SEPANG: The remains of MH17 chief steward Mohd Ghafar Abu Bakar and Universiti Malaysia Sabah lecturer Ng Shi Ing arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex of the KL International Airport (KLIA) at about 8.30am, Sunday.
One casket and an urn, draped in Malaysian flags, were unloaded from a MAS aircraft and taken by soldiers to waiting hearses.
The duo were accorded full military honours.
A minute's silence was observed at 8.41am before the hearses were being driven past families and waiting dignitaries.
Their remains were subsequently taken to their final resting place.
Mohd Ghafar will be buried at the Taman Kosas Cemetery, Ampang, while the urn containing Ang's ashes was sent to Xiao En Bereavement Care Sdn Bhd in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
The remains of a third passenger, which was not identified on request of family members, also arrived at the same commercial flight from Amsterdam at 6.30am.
It is understood that the passenger's ashes were claimed by the family earlier at KLIA.
Among the dignitaries present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.
Last Friday, a special MAS plane bearing the remains of 20 Malaysians victims killed in the MH17 tragedy landed at the KLIA at 9.55am.
A ceremony with full military honours was accorded to the victims.
A minute of silence as a mark of respect for the victims was observed at 10.55am before the hearses left KLIA's Bunga Raya Complex.
Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.
The Boeing 777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.
Forty-three Malaysians perished in the tragedy.
