PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has ordered Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to wait for his return amid a request by the embattled mentri besar to seek an audience with him while he is overseas.
In a statement, the Sultan's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said Khalid had requested to meet the Sultan to explain his mentri besar position and inform him of the latest development.
"I have presented his request to the Sultan. However, he had decreed that Khalid should wait until he comes home, which is in a few days time," he said.
The Sultan had previously ordered Khalid not to make any decision or announcement with regard to his position as mentri besar until the Ruler returns on Aug 27.
Khalid had an audience with him on Aug 11 which was two days after he was sacked from PKR.
At that time, Khalid said the Sultan was satisfied that he had the majority support of members in the state assembly.
Things have escalated since when 30 Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen declared support for Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be the next mentri besar.
Khalid has also lost support from PAS, who was at the start of the crisis backed him to remain in the office.
