GEORGE TOWN: The DAP and PKR have no voice in the Pakatan coalition, said Penang Barisan Nasional chairman Teng Chang Yeow.
Teng said that it was clear that the two parties were being led by PAS over the Selangor MB crisis where the latter had named Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali as another candidate for the Mentri Besar post instead of extending their full support for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
“DAP and PKR have more seats than PAS in the Parliament but now we can see that they (DAP and PKR) are following what PAS says.
“It also shows that Dr Wan Azizah doesn’t have the backing of PAS with them naming of Azmin as another candidate,” he said after opening the new Bayan Baru Gerakan division activity centre in Jalan Tun Dr Awang here today.
He said DAP has 38 seats, PKR with 30 seats and PAS with 21 seats, likening DAP to “a host without power” as the latter was not able to persuade or influence PAS over the matter.
It was reported that PAS had initially supported Selangor MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim when he was sacked by PKR on Aug 9 after he refused to step down from the position to make way for Wan Azizah.
Bayan Baru Gerakan division chairman Teh Leong Meng also said that Khalid, whom PKR had gladly portrayed as an efficient, clean and transparent MB in the last general elections had been thrown into hell.
“PKR took drastic actions to remove Khalid. Over 50 pages of accusations were hurled at Khalid and two accusations alleged corruptions in financial deal and land deal,” he said.
He added that the Selangor government had also ignored the critical water crisis.
“It is so serious that the people has to use water from mining pools,” he said.
