KUANTAN: The decision of Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, also known as Kiki, to join Selangor chapter of Malay rights group Perkasa is her right, road rage victim Sim Siak Hong said.
Sim, 68, said he was aware of the latest developments but would not like to comment much as it was something personal.
"There is freedom in this country. She can take part or join any organisation that she wants.
"We have not met or talked since she was sentenced by the court but I would continue to pray for her wellbeing.
"The whole episode is already over and should not be brought up for discussion anymore," he said when contacted on Friday.
According to several online reports, Siti Fairrah, 30, was present during a ceremony to collect her membership certificate and card from Selangor Perkasa chief Abu Bakar Yahya.
On July 22, Siti Fairrah was fined RM5,000 and ordered to perform 240 hours of community service by the Sessions Court after she pleaded guilty to intentionally committing mischief with a steering lock by hitting the hood and windscreen of Sim’s car at the parking lot of UTC, Jalan Sekilau, near here.
Siti Fairrah was recorded spewing verbal abuses and hammering Sim's vehicle. The incident was triggered after Sim accidentally hit her brand new Peugeot.
A video of the incident, which was uploaded onto YouTube, instantly went viral, resulting in the public condemning her aggressive act.
It was also reported that Selangor Perkasa initiated a fund-raising campaign to help pay for her RM5,000 fine.
Shortly after her membership was uploaded into the Perkasa Selangor Facebook, numerous comments were posted by netizens with some condemning, and others supporting her decision.
