PETALING JAYA: PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa (pic) has lambasted Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim for making use of PAS in his quest to remain Selangor Mentri Besar.
“He can get sympathy, temporary protection and PAS’ support because of the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat. PAS’ president handed an olive branch to him but all that is over.
“So many things have happened since then. PAS shouldn’t be swallowed into his quest. The Selangor administration is under Pakatan Rakyat not Khalid. How can an assemblyman who is not with Pakatan Rakyat be the Mentri Besar for a Pakatan Rakyat’s administration,” the Salor assemblyman said in a press statement on Friday.
He said Khalid’s sacking of DAP and PKR exco members and other political moves were not known by PAS.
“These actions can split Pakatan Rakyat because he claims that PAS is supporting him. He has lost his legitimacy to become a Mentri Besar. It has tarnished the image of PAS and he has no right to do so.
“Sacking DAP and PKR exco members and retaining PAS exco members must be discussed with PAS and agreed to by the coalition members. To my knowledge, PAS didn’t have a meeting on this matter and never arrived at a consensus.
“As a vice-president, I’ve not been informed about this move and the PAS committee have not given any mandate to anybody on this issue.
“Khalid involved PAS in his survival as Mentri Besar and it has tarnished the good name of PAS among the people of Selangor. This is not right,” said Husam.
He added that to remain as mentri besar, Khalid could not use the 15 PAS assemblymen to form a state government which might include Umno, PAS and any assemblymen intending to jump to his side.
“The 15 PAS assemblymen were chosen by the people of Selangor under the Pakatan Rakyat ticket. Umno was rejected by the majority of Selangor people except for 12 constituencies.
“To bring Umno, an opposition, to sit with the administration with PAS, and push away the other two parties in Pakatan Rakyat who were chosen by the people is not right and against Islamic principles,” he said.
Husam further urged Khalid to step down and leave in a dignified manner.
“Stepping down is the most honourable move. It’s not the end for him. Ending his tenure in an ugly way is actually the end of his political career and also leaves a dark spot in his life,” he said.
