Divulge details or sue me in court, Rafizi tells Khalid

PETALING JAYA: PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli has challenged Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to divulge the terms of his RM67 million out-of-court settlement with Bank Islam or sue him in court.

He also urged Khalid to explain why a pro-Umno lawyer’s company received millions of ringgit in benefits from the state government over a land deal in March.

Rafizi said the Selangor MB’s integrity was further questioned as he had yet to provide a sufficient explanation to the PKR leadership over the allegations, which were outlined in detail in a 91-page dossier released by the party to Dap and PAS on Tuesday.

“If he is not ready to divulge those details, then he should have sued me in court before making a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),” he said in a statement.

Rafizi was referring to a report made by Khalid’s officers to MACC on Wednesday, calling for an investigation into the allegations made by PKR towards him.

He said it was not surprising for Khalid to lodge a report with MACC as he knew it would be difficult for the commission to take “any action” on him, citing similarities with the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) case in 2012 where then Women Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was cleared of corruption charges.

“Khalid’s attempt to use the MACC to clear his name is similar to when the commission announced that there was no embezzlement in the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) case.

“However, the rakyat will not be so easily led to believe that was the case,” he said, adding that Khalid should sue him by Friday if he really had nothing to hide.

Following the release of the dossier, Khalid had said he would be willing to answer all the accusations thrown at him by the party leadership.
