Foreigners outnumber Malaysians in Sabah prisons


KOTA KINABALU: There are more foreigners than Malaysians jailed in Sabah, comprising about 53% of the 6,000 detainees and inmates at six prisons there, said Sabah prisons director Ab Basir Mohamad.

According to Ab Basir, prisons in Sabah are now filled beyond the 5,500 capacity there, and each prisoner costs the government RM8.40 to feed per day.
