Haze: Sibu now at very unhealthy level of 204 API, most of Klang Valley at unhealthy levels

PETALING JAYA: The quality of air in Sibu is now at a "very unhealthy" level with an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 204 as of 3pm on Monday.

This is an increase from a reading taken at 7am on Monday morning which recorded an API of 196.

Aside from Sibu, other areas which recorded "unhealthy" API readings as of 4pm was 106 in Samarahan and 110 in Sri Aman in Sarawak, 115 in Kuala Selangor, 145 in Port Klang, and 101 in Shah Alam in Selangor and 105 in Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur.

The API for other areas in the country were recorded as either "moderate" or "good"

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 301 and above, hazardous.

The public can refer to the DOE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my/apims/hourly3.php  to find out the API reading for their areas.
