PETALING JAYA: Reactions were mixed from Netizens in the case of the Kuantan road bully who was fined RM5,000 and ordered to do 240 hours of community work for causing mischief.
Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, 30, broke down during mitigation in the Kuantan Sessions Court on Tuesday pleading guilty to the offence she committed in Jalan Sekilau in Kuantan on July 14.
From comments made on The Star's Facebook, netizens feel that people should learn from the episode and move on, after all Siti Fairrah has apologised for her behaviour.
Johnny Yeow said in The Star's Facebook: "Lets all close the case both parties shake hands, forgive and forget and move on peacefully."
“Well she paid for her mistakes and she has apologised. I think everyone should just move on and stop bashing her,” commented Kuhen Kanagarajah.
Devendren Sathasivam said the incident was "a good lesson for all road users and it will surely serve as a reminder for many."
“We should be patient when we are involved in an accident. Nobody purposely comes to hit you. It happens and we should be calm,” he said.
"Forgive those whom have sinned against us. She learned her lesson and she is paying for it. Humans make mistakes and learn from it. So as good souls, we shouldn’t harp on the same issue. Lets give peace for that poor uncle and lady too,” said Jinnie Sai.
However, Peter Cheng said the verdict was a slap on the wrist for her and suggested: “For community work… She should wash & polish neighbours' cars for 240 hours."
Liz Woods said they should have suspended her driving licence and since she just holds a P license (probationary driving license), they should have at least asked her to retake her driving test.
Adriana Wee felt that the verdict hould have been RM5,000 plus one month's jail. It didn’t end there...
“Revoke driver's license for two years. Then she can just watch her CDM25 for 24 months and realise her mistake,” she said.
The Sessions Court judge had told the accused that she was very lucky that the victim Sim Siak Hong was a good man and did not wish to pursue the matter.
Siti Fairrah could have been jailed two years or a fine or both.
She was recorded spewing verbal abuses and hammering the vehicle belonging to Sim, 68, with his steering lock after Sim knocked into her new Peugeot car.
