Woman among four new arrests over Estonian model’s murder

JOHOR BARU: A woman was among four more people arrested in connection to the death of Estonian freelance model Regina Soosalu (pix) in Pulau Rawa here on July 1.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said in a statement that the four aged between 24 and 27 were detained in Mersing on Tuesday.

“Between July 13 and July 15, the police have released three men after recording their statements,” he said.

“I urge the public to refrain from making any speculations pertaining to the incident until investigations have been completed,” he added.

Officials had initially thought the model, who was holidaying on the island at the time her body was found, had drowned.

However, it became a murder case when investigators found “suspicious wounds” on her body.

Seven men, including her boyfriend Tunku Alang Reza Tunku Ibrahim, were subsequently questioned over Soosalu’s death.

Those with information are urged to contact the Johor police hotline at 07-2212999.
