Long arm of the law finally catches up with 'Facebook sextortionist'

KAJANG: A 25-year-old unemployed man was arrested for allegedly taking photos of men performing oral sex on him and blackmailing them into paying a hefty sum for the pictures.

District OCPD Asst Comm Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said police detained the man at his Bandar Tasik Kesuma residence in Semenyih on Wednesday morning.

According to ACP Ab Rashid, the man would arrange to meet his victims whom he got to know via Facebook.

“He would seduce them before coaxing his ‘conquests’ into performing oral sex on him.

“He takes photos of them in action and later threatens to release the pictures on social media,” he added.

ACP Ab Rashid said the men, who are in their 20s and 30s, would agree to pay the “sextortionist” money to prevent him from spreading the photos online.

“Six men have lodged a police report against him between late last year and July this year.

“An error with a recent ‘conquest’ led police to his house on Wednesday,” he added.

ACP Ab Rashid said the man would usually bring his victims to hotels to have sex, which made it difficult for cops to track down his activities.

“However, he made a mistake by bringing his latest victim back to his house where the latter performed oral sex on him.

“His victim lodged a police report against the man and told us where he lived,” he added.

The suspect has no previous criminal record and tested negative for drug use.

He will be in police custody until Saturday.

The case has been classified as extortion under Section 384 of the Penal Code.

The offence carries a maximum 10-year jail term or a fine or whipping or any two of the punishments upon conviction.
