KOTA KINABALU: A four-year-old boy died in an early morning fire that gutted his family’s house in Kampung Melalap in the interior Tenom district.
The charred remains of Itham Nick Ivan was found inside a bedroom by Tenom Fire and Rescue staff at 9am, two hours after the tragedy yesterday.
Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer senior assistant Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramin said they were alerted of the blaze at 7.44am.
He said 13 personnel in two fire engines were rushed to the scene within minutes.
The single-storey house was destroyed, he said, adding that the cause of the fire was still being investigated.
