NATIONAL carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been asked by the Transport Ministry to give its Muslim stewardesses the option to wear syariah-compliant uniforms, says Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
In a written reply to Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PAS-Bachok), he said the country’s airline operators were free to choose the uniform styles of their employees, as long as they adhered to security standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
