KUALA LUMPUR: Today is the start of school after the mid-term break but this did not deter students from travelling from other towns to attend the Star Education Fair over the weekend.
One student who is interested in pursuing an engineering degree, and only wanted to be known as Choong came from Ipoh to attend the talks.
“Unfortunately I have to leave now as I need to catch my train home,” he said after attending the talk on “Funding Higher Education” – Loans from PTPTN.
Walking into the hall on a pair of crutches, Chin Kar Man said she wanted to learn what study options were available after she completes her SPM at the end of the year.
The bubbly girl, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was 18 months old, travelled to visit the fair here from Malacca with her mother Tan Geok Lan, father Chin Yoong Foo and sister Chin Kar Wye.
“Many universities and colleges have gone to her school, SMK St David, and given talks but we felt there are more options and information available here at the fair,” said her mother.
Kar Man said although she aspires to be a famous singer some day, she wanted to keep her career options open.
Goh Ah Fatt and his wife Josephine Lim made their way to the fair to obtain information on dentistry courses for their daughter, who is sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
“I’m a dentist myself and I think that’s why my daughter is interested,” he said, adding that his daughter had not followed them to the fair.
“We thought we could find more information here at the fair,” he added.
