KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah attended a royal tea reception in conjunction with his birthday at Istana Negara here.
Also present was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
The highlight of the reception yesterday was the cake-cutting ceremony by Tuanku Abdul Halim, who also shook hands with some of the 3,000 guests.
Among the dignitaries present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman.
Also present at the reception were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Cabinet Ministers and local and foreign dignitaries.
The guests were entertained with performances by local artistes accompanied by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall orchestra. — Bernama
