KUALA LUMPUR: A group of youths created a stir outside the condominium where MIC disciplinary committee chairman Tan Sri K. S. Nijhar lived in Bukit Pantai on Saturday.
They came with banners and placards to protest against the sacking of Kedah MIC Youth council member K. Somasundaram, who was among the crowd.
The placards read “Save MIC”, “Nijhar is MIC Tumour and Time to Remove.”
The youths later handed over a memorandum to Nijhar.
Spokesman Subash Chandrabose claimed that the protest was held as Nijhar had failed to give a proper reason for sacking Somasundaram.
“We had given Nijhar two weeks to reply but he had kept quiet,” he said.
Subash said Somasundaram had only asked party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel to explain the delay in the appointment of senators reserved for MIC.
“Two posts fell vacant in early 2012 and until now there has been no replacements from the party. The party leadership had not given an explaination,” he said.
Somasundaram was expelled on May 12 for his statement.
Subash said they were also unhappy that the disciplinary committee had not acted against information chief L. Sivasubramaniam who had called for the resignation of MIC Youth chief C. Sivarraajh without any basis.
