Prosecution fails to re-appeal against ex-bank CEO’s acquittal

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has dismissed an application by the prosecution to reinstate their appeal against the acquittal of former Sime Bank chief executive officer Datuk Ismail Zakaria over charges on control of credit limit and criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM175mil.

Justice Mohd Azman Husin said the court had waited for the prosecutor to handle the appeal on May 26, but he had failed to turn up. The court, he said, had issued letters dated April 7 to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and Bank Negara on the hearing date of the appeal.
