KUALA LUMPUR: MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong has challenged DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang to face PAS’ hudud issue head-on and tell the Kelantan Mentri Besar that the people are against hudud.
“His (Lim’s) party tells non-Muslims there is nothing to fear about hudud if they do nothing wrong,” Wee said in a statement here yesterday.
“On the other hand, DAP tries to push the blame to MCA by saying we have done nothing to object to it,” he added in response to Lim’s statement that Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had given assurances that there would not be a repeat of the disruption of a Hindu wedding on Sunday by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais).
Dr Wee challenged Lim to approach Datuk Ahmad Yaakob and tell the Mentri Besar that there were people against PAS’ hudud.
“Will he (Lim) dare to do so?” asked Dr Wee, who accused the DAP leader of lacking the courage to stand up to PAS.
He said that while Lim was a vocal politician, he chose to be blind, silent and misleading when it came to the PAS’ hudud issue.
