PETALING JAYA: PAS has denied a report that its deputy spiritual leader Datuk Haron Din will quit the party.
Information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar told The Star Online that the party was never informed that the veteran leader wanted to relinquish his post.
"There is no such thing. The rumour has been going on for so long. It (the rumour) always surfaces whenever there is an election," he said, referring to Teluk Intan by-election due to be held this Saturday.
On Thursday, a news portal reported that Haron would make an announcement that he would quit all his party posts at PAS' annual general meeting end of this year.
The report suggested that the decision was made due to Haron's deteriorating health, in addition to his being unhappy with some party policies made as of late.
"Besides, he has been in and out of hospital and has been advised to rest," said the report, quoting sources.
