"In the pursuit, the deceased was knocked down by the suspect in the Honda Civic.
"His partner was also hit by the car and was seriously injured. He is being treated at the Parit Buntar Hospital," he told reporters.
L/Kpl Mohd Azuan's body had been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for post-mortem.

The Toyota Wish was later found burnt in a banana plantation near Lunas in Kedah, some 60km away from the scene.
North Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said police are on the heels of the suspects.
"We believe the suspects abandoned the vehicle there, burnt it and fled on foot," he said when contacted.
