KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has called on all Malaysians - citizens, journalists and politicians - to work together to shun inflammatory statements and ease tensions when they arise.
He noted that politicians had a responsibility not to seek cheap headlines with provocative remarks while journalists shouldered a responsibility to report accurately and fairly.
"And people have a responsibility to think about the content they share in the heat of the moment," he said at the National Press Club (NPC) Awards 2014 here.
"We should do so in the spirit of fairness and in the service of truth - the same principles which guide tonight's winners and the members of the National Press Club," he said.
