KUALA LUMPUR: Two youths charged with possessing and selling stolen goods were denied bail by a Magistrate's Court here on the grounds that too many accused were jumping bail even despite the high amounts.

Magistrate Ashraf Rezal Abdul Manan refused to grant bail to college student Zulfahmi Saddam, 19, and Muhammad Khairul Amin Khairuddin, 24, after they pleaded not guilty to the offences.

He ordered Zulfahmi and Muhammad Khairul to be detained in the Kajang and Sungai Buloh prisons, respectively, until the case is mentioned on May 28.

Both were charged with possessing a television, Samsung Galaxy Tab, a mobile phone and digital camera belonging to Mohamad Yuszaini Mohammed Kabiruddin worth RM10,600.

They allegedly committed the offence at the Sri Penara Apartment, Bandar Sri Permaisuri in Cheras at 1.45 am on May 7.

The youths were also charged with trying to sell a stolen DVD player to an individual in Block Kasturi, Jalan Tasik Permaisuri 3, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras at 1.30 pm on April 15.

They were charged under Sections 411 and 414 of the Penal Code, which provide between six months and seven years prison, fine or both, upon conviction. - Bernama
