BUTTERWORTH: A lorry transporting empty beer barrels turned turtle after the driver lost control and landed on the roadside along the North-South Expressway near the Seberang Jaya Expo ground here.
Several PLUS Malaysia Bhd workers said the tyre on the front left wheel of the eight-tonne lorry punctured when the vehicle was coming down the overhead bridge near the Seberang Jaya roundabout.
They said the lorry swayed on the left side and turned turtle in the 2.15pm incident yesterday.
It was learnt that the driver was rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital with serious injuries.
Several eyewitnesses said a Proton Wira and a motorcycle were also involved in the accident.
The motorcyclist was injured while the car driver escaped unhurt.
