BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 70-year-old man was found dead, believed murdered, in front of his house in Kubang Ulu, here.
The body of Ong Ang Heap was found with injuries on the chest and head as well as a bleeding nose by his son who is a cameraman, at 3.15pm yesterday.
Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the cameraman, 21, saw his father lying in front of the house when he returned home.
“The man tried to revive his father but failed,” he said yesterday.
Initial police investigations found several wounds on the septuagenarian’s body and injuries afflicted by a piece of wood on the head.
Mazlan said police also found wood splinters and a knife not far from the victim’s body.
“At that time, the victim was living alone as his daughter was looking after the victim’s wife at Bukit Mertajam Hospital (HBM) since Sunday,” he said.
The victim’s body was sent to HBM for a post-mortem.
Members of the public who have information on the incident are requested to contact the nearest police station to assist investigation. — Bernama
