KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak paid tribute to his mother on Mothers Day.
The Prime Minister extended his wishes not just to Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah but also to all mothers in Malaysia.
“Mothers are the main facilitator to the development of a community and country.
“A mother’s role is to uphold invaluable principles in a society,” he wrote on his Facebook page yesterday to commemorate the day that honours mothers around the world.
Najib uploaded a picture of him kissing his mother’s hand together with the post, which received more than 70,000 likes as of press time.
On Twitter, he shared the photo with the posting: “Happy Mothers Day to my mother and all mothers! There is nothing more precious than the duty and role of a mother.”
Najib also shared the anguish of the mothers of the Nigerian schoolgirls abducted from a boarding school by the militant group Boko Haram on April 14.
“This Mothers Day, we are thinking of
the mothers of the 276 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram recently #BringBackOurGirls,” he tweeted, using the hashtag for the worldwide campaign to press for the Nigerian government to help free the girls.
