Close to 8,000 Catholics, non-Christian pilgrims and devotees from all over Malaysia and Singapore thronged St. Paul's Hill here to commemorate the feast of St. Francis Xavier on Sunday. The service was conducted at a specially erected altar in front of the empty tomb of the saint with eleven co-celebrants in attendance. This year is also the 500th anniversary of the birth of the saint.
MALACCA: Treasure is believed to be buried in secret sites in Pulau Besar and St Paul’s Hill besides the one in Pulau Nangka, claimed Historic Study and Patriotism Institute (Iskep) chairman Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Jamil Mukmin.
This treasure, he said, was part of the riches belonging to the then prosperous Malacca Sultanate.
