500 residents stage peaceful demo over land titles

ABOUT 500 residents from Jinjang Selatan Tambahan staged a peaceful demonstration calling on the Government to issue land titles for the houses they had been staying in since 1969, Makkal Osai reported.

The resident’s action group member R. Krishnamurthy said that squatters from Kampung Malaysia and Jinjang Utara have been moved to the 46.5ha site, which was thick with undergrowth. They were given the land and the residents had to build their own houses.
