PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur will be free of garbage by the end of the year.
In giving this undertaking, Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (PPSPPA) chief executive Datuk Ab Rahim Md Noor said the firm had identified 140 illegal garbage dumping areas in the city.
"PPSPPA will adopt the approach "Clean, Place Warning and Control" to meet its objective," he told reporters after opening the Society Mind Transformation Workshop organised by PPSPPA here.
He said the approach had proven to be effective and in merely two months PPSPPA had succeeded in making Negeri Sembilan a zero garbage state.
In this regard, society must change its perception on protecting and boosting the quality of the environment, he added. - Bernama
