JOHOR BARU: A web designer got a shock when he received a call from the bank informing him that he owed RM18,000 in instalments, seven months after he sold his car to a second-hand car dealer.
Confused, Yeong Chee Heng, 31, immediately called the salesman known as “Allen” who handled his transaction but there was no answer.
"I decided to go to the outlet to look for him only to find out that the dealer was no longer in operation," Yeong related his experience at a press conference organised by the MCA public complaints bureau here on Tuesday.
He said he settled the outstanding RM18,000 instalments with the help of relatives.
Yeong said he could not afford to be blacklisted or be declared bankrupt, as he worked in Singapore.
