Obama bids farewell from Air Force One at the RMAF base on Monday.
SUBANG: US President Barack Obama wound up his three-day visit to Malaysia on Monday, and departed for Manila, the Philippines.
The Air Force One carrying the American president took off about 10.20am from the RMAF base here.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin greeted Obama before accompanying him for a static guard-of-honour comprising 28 personnel from the sixth battalion of the Royal Rangers Regiment led by Captain Mohd Fadjrin Mansor.
Also present for Obama's send off include Special Envoy to the United States Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis and Ambassador-designate to the United States Datuk Awang Adek Hussin.
Earlier, President Obama and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak witnessed the signing of several MoUs between American and Malaysian companies worth US$2bil in the aviation, biotechnology and insurance sectors.
Malaysia was the third leg of Obama's four-nation tour of Asia. Prior to Malaysia, the 44th American president had visited Japan and South Korea.
Obama's visit to Malaysia was the first by a sitting US President since President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966.
