Fun-filled brekkie: Early risers enjoying their breakfast during the event at Putrajaya.
PUTRAJAYA: It was rise and shine for about 20,000 people who came here early to sample the goodness of breakfast at the Malaysia Breakfast Day.
Organised by Milo, it was part of efforts to rally the public to make the right nutritional choices for a balanced breakfast and to encourage an active lifestyle.
It is also a call for action aimed at Malaysians to make the right dietary choices for their families, especially for their growing children.
Alois Hofbauer, region head for Nestle Malaysia and Singapore, said Malaysia Breakfast Day received an overwhelming response this year.
“(While this is a one-day event), Milo has many engagements throughout the year and we may have reached two to three million school kids,” he said.
“We try to make Milo affordable in Malaysia,” he added.
Unfortunately, one in three kids in Malaysia skipped breakfast, Hofbauer pointed out during an interview.
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Without breakfast, you will not be able to focus in school.
“A balanced breakfast with a good combination of nutrients and a mug of Milo, which has the perfect ratio of nutrients consisting of protein, carbohydrates and fats, can fuel the body for the day,” he said.
He said the Malaysia Breakfast Day, which was being held for the second consecutive year, was an event which transcended race and age.
“We have parents running with babies. It is such a unifying event,” he said, referring to the estimated 10,000 people who took part in a fun run, a 7km run for serious runners and a 3km event for parents and children at Precinct 3 here.
An equal number of people held picnics with their family and friends. Others enjoyed a variety of breakfast and Milo samples.
Some participated in various interactive zones, which included the Milo Inflatable Bungee Cord at the sports Zone, health talks at the Wellness Zone, besides experiencing a boost of energy at the Energy Zone.
