PEKAN: One person was killed when a double decker express bus plunged into a ravine off Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, Sunday.
Pekan OCPD Supt Yahaya Othman said the bus carrying 40 people was on its way to Singapore from Pulau Redang, Terengganu when it crashed near the Sungai Jernih plantation here at about 4.40pm.
He said injured passengers had been sent to the Pekan hospital, the Tengku Ampuan Afzan hospital in Kuantan and the Muadzam Shah hospital.
Supt Yahaya said most of the passengers were tourists from Singapore, China and India, returning from a trip to Pulau Redang.
He said the cause of the crash is being investigated.
Sunday’s crash is the third express bus accident in Pahang in the span of eight days.
On April 12, a double decker bus hit an electrical pole and overturned in Bentong, killing three passengers.
