Raging blaze: Flames engulfing the top section of the Kuan Choo Institute building along Jalan Raja Laut. No injuries were reported after the fire was extinguished.
KUALA LUMPUR: A fire caused the roof the Kuan Choo Institute building off Jalan Raja Laut to collapse, sending onlookers and firemen scrambling away from the flaming debris.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Azizan Ismail said the fifth floor of the building, which houses a private college, was engulfed by flames at 11.40am yesterday.
“The fire started in a classroom used to store furniture.
“The blaze caused the roof to collapse but no one was injured,” he said.
He said firemen from six stations were sent to the scene, adding that it was finally put out at 12.25pm.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
