Karpal Singh: I'm sad I could not explain hudud in detail to him, says Nik Aziz

PETALING JAYA: PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat believes that Karpal Singh would not have been against hudud if he had been given the right understanding of the law.

Nik Aziz said he felt sad as he did not have the opportunity to explain in detail to the veteran DAP leader the laws pertaining to hudud.

Karpal was killed in an accident near Gua Tempurung in Perak on the at about 1am Thursday.

"I'm a little bit sad because an individual like Karpal wasn't able to get a full explanation on hudud.

"I truly believe that an individual like him, given the right understanding of the law, will not have any reason to go against hudud," Nik Aziz said in his official Facebook page.

The former Kelantan mentri besar recalled his meeting early this year with Karpal at the latter's residence.

"I was given a good reception from him. When I left his residence, he even followed me to my vehicle even though he was in a wheel chair.

"We may have differing opinions but he is humble and accepted PAS and DAP relationship in Pakatan Rakyat.

"I know Karpal as someone who strongly holds to the principles of the Federal Constitution and I believe, he will be known for that in the history of Malaysian politics," said Nik Aziz.

He conveyed his condolences to Karpal's family saying his passing "is a great loss to Malaysian politics."
